Lausanne Looks Forward To 2020 Youth Bid Process

Swiss Olympic President Jorg Schild said following Lausanne meeting the deadline in its bid for the 2020 Winter Youth Olympic Games, “it is with great enthusiasm that Swiss sport is entering this exciting candidature period. Over the next six months, prior to the delivery of the bid book, we will work hand in hand with the city and state representatives of Lausanne and its region, as well as with all Swiss sport stakeholders to develop a concept that not only will make sense for the IOC but also for Swiss sport in general. We look forward to this great challenge”.

Lausanne’s Mayor Daniel Brelaz said, “after over 10 months spent convincing Swiss Olympic to select our city as a Swiss candidate, we are now ready for the next step, which will be to put together the best proposal ever made for the Youth Olympic Games. This event makes perfect sense for our city, the Olympic Capital, and we hope that we can now convince the world of sport to walk with us all the way to 2020”.

Lausanne is competing against Brasov, Romania. The IOC will decide on the host city of the 2020 Youth Olympic Games in July or August 2015.
