Lagos State Government announced Thursday that Lagos is bidding to host the 2018 Youth Olympic Games.
The Commissioner for Sports, Prince Demola Adeniji Adele, made the announcement during a ministerial briefing.
He said preliminary efforts have already been made as part of the state’s desire and commitment to host the 2018 Youth Games.
He added that he had visited Singapore during the last Youth Games and met with International Olympic Committee (IOC) officials where he informed them of a prospective bid, telling them “we have been doing some things that will help our bidding process”.
Adele said, “you should note that 2018 is around the corner and as such we are not sleeping. Very soon the state governor Babatunde Raji Fasola will constitute bidding committee and once that is done you will see that we are on course.
“The state is committed to hosting the youths of the world, hence our determination and commitment to the bid process”.
