The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has announced a medal design competition for the first edition of the Winter Youth Olympic Games being held in Innsbruck in 2012.
People around the world are invited to submit their designs for the medals, and the public will be invited to vote for their favourite. The ten most popular designs will then be submitted to an IOC jury which will select the final winner.
The winning designer will win a trip to the Innsbruck 2012 Games as well as a replica of the gold medal featuring his or her design.
Design submissions are being accepted March 1 to April 29, 2011, online public voting will take place May 4 to June 30, 2011, and the winner will be announced in the summer of 2011.
