Innsbruck 2012 organizers announced Wednesday that a mountain goat will be the mascot for the 2012 Winter Youth Olympic Games.
In October a mascot competition was launched with 104 designs submitted by participants from 15 different countries. The winning entry came from Argentina.
According to Innsbruck officials, the graceful figure reflects the athletic aspect of the Games’ youthful character to young people around the world for the first Youth Olympic Winter Games and the Olympic values of friends, respect, and inspire the quest for personal best.
The mascot will be unveiled at a celebration January 13, one year ahead of the Games.
