Leaders of Madrid 2016 welcomed the publication of the International Olympic Committee’s Evaluation Commission report on the 2016 Summer Games bids, and the bid committee says it’s encouraged that the report highlights the high quality of the bid for the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
According to a press release, Madrid 2016 said it welcomes the commission’s recognition that it is so strongly motivated to host the Games by the values of sport and Olympism centred on social and physical regeneration, underlined by the motto “The Games with the Human Touch”.
Mercedes Coghen, CEO of Madrid 2016 said, “we thank the IOC Evaluation Commission for their report and welcome the findings whole-heartedly. We believe that Madrid will host the best ever Games”.
Alberto Ruiz-Gallardon, Mayor of Madrid said, “it is a tribute to our great capital city and to all the hard work of the bid team that the report highlights so many positives. The people of Madrid and the whole of Spain overwhelmingly support the bid, as do all the political parties, the business community and the Royal Family”.
Mercedes Coghen added, “we also note where the commission has raised issues. We look forward to reassuring the IOC by clarifying these points of detail in the run-up to Copenhagen”.
