Monterrey 2018 Bid Gets Support From Mayor

The mayor of Monterrey, Mexico, Fernando Larrazabal Breton, said he supports Monterrey’s bid for the 2018 Youth Olympic Games.

An agreement has been signed by representatives of the Monterrey 2018 Bid Committee which will be sent to the Mexican Olympic Committee and then forwarded on to the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

Monterrey’s competitors for the 2018 Youth Games are Medellin, Colombia and Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Larrazabal said the city has the infrastructure to host an event of this magnitude and has no hesitation in supporting the bid.

He added, “that’s why we are formally making a request that this is the first instance, is a letter of intent to be remitted to the Mexican Olympic Committee, to which, in turn, may be proposed in Monterrey”.
