Due to recent news from Andorra’s 2010 Olympic Winter Games Bid that questions its ongoing viability, GamesBids.com has changed the city’s BidIndex status to “halted”. A halted status means news is expected that will likely have a major impact on the bid’s fundamentals and ultimately its BidIndex score.
In recent days, Andorra announced it’s plans to conduct a feasibility study and more recently revealed doubts that they could prepare effectively for a 2010 bid. The organizing committee admits that a 2014 bid could be more realistic and that if they withdraw their 2010 bid, they would do so by May 15, two weeks before the applicant city questionnaires are due to the IOC.
Andorra’s BidIndex score will remain halted until the committee’s intent to bid is confirmed.
BidIndex is a model that when applied to an Olympic Bid, produces a number that can be used to rate that bid relative to others – and possibly gauge it’s ultimate success.
