Madrid’s bid for the 2020 Summer Olympic Games that was approved by Madrid’s city council Wednesday has been endorsed by the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE).
COE head Alejandro Blanco said the motion to approve Madrid’s bid was unanimous. The Spanish body is to submit the bid to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) before the September 1 deadline.
Blanco added that separate bids from Barcelona and Zaragoza-Jaca for the 2022 Winter Games would also receive COE support but were unlikely to advance.
