BidIndex Scores The Eight 2010 Winter Games Applicants

GamesBids.com has published the first BidIndex scores for all eight applicant cities who have met the IOC deadline of February 4 and are competing to host the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. Although it is very early in the election process, these scores can indicate how successful a bid might be by comparing it to successful bids from the past.

Berne, Switzerland scored 56.77; Vancouver, Canada 54.45; Salzburg, Austria 50.31 and Andorra la Vella, Andorra 49.06. These early results are based mostly on early indicators of good infrastructure, strong backing and the likelihood of IOC acceptance.

Of the remaining cities, Jaca, Spain scored 46.66; Pyeongchang, South Korea 42.97; Harbin. China 39.13 and Sarajevo, Boznia-Herzegovina 31.35. Harbin will face resistance due to its proximity to Beijing’s 2008 Summer Games and Sarajevo has a long way to go to rebuild its war-torn infrastructure.

As the applicants develop and present their plans and the IOC publishes evaluation results, BidIndex scores will change and current results will be published on GameBids.com on a regular basis. Full details are available on GamesBids.com.
