BidIndex Updated For 2012 Olympic Bids – New York Reactivated

GamesBids.com today released an update to BidIndex for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games bid. This update was made to reactivate New York’s score after it was “halted” three weeks ago.

New York’s original Olympic stadium plan had been rejected by local politicians and it was later replaced with a new plan. Although full details of the revised plan have been submitted to the IOC and approval has been received from relevant sports federations, additional information has not been made available to GamesBids.com.

As a result, some categories have been removed from New York’s rating reducing its accuracy.

New York’s BidIndex dropped 0.54 to 57.59, a score that accounts for a positive technical evaluation report of June 6 and recent venue changes including the relocation of the Olympic stadium and the IBC.

London went up 0.19 to 65.07 and Madrid fell 0.19 to 61.22 as a result of adjustments made on New York’s reactivation. Paris (66.18) and Moscow (49.58) remain unchanged.

This could be the final BidIndex update before the July 6 vote in Singapore. Further updates will only be made if there are fundamental changes to the bids.

BidIndex, a model developed by statisticians and bid experts at GamesBids.com, has been successfully used since 2001. It is comprised of over 100 critical fundamentals and information obtained from experts and Olympic insiders. BidIndex was reviewed in the March 2004 edition of Significance Magazine, a publication by the Royal Statistical Society.

BidIndex is not intended to rate or rank the bids based on technical quality, but on how the bids will perform based on IOC statistical voting patterns. History has proven that the best technical bids often do not win but other factors such as geo-politics usually have a significant impact.

Full BidIndex details can be found on the BidIndex page or send GamesBids.com a message for more information or comments from BidIndex developers.
