Singapore 2010 has issued a press release saying more than 1,500 entries were received for the Singapore 2010 Logo Design Competition. The competition launched by Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Community Development Youth & Sports, was launched July 29 and ends at midnight Friday.
As of August 29 the Singapore Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee (SYOGOC) received 1,590 entries. Of these 856 entries came from youths, and 734 entries were from the Open Category. Local entries made up about 75 per cent of all entries and 25 per cent came from people around the world.
Ng Ser Miang, Chairman of SYOGOC said, “people around the world, especially the youth, have responded with enthusiasm to this competition and it shows how excited they are about the Youth Olympic Games. The Games belong to the people and their participation is important in shaping the Games.
Thirteen judges, comprising leaders from the creative industry and sports, will assess the entries based on their originality, representation of Singapore appeal to a global audience and in particular the youth, and relevance to the Youth Olympic Games and the Olympic Movement. The judges will then select the Overall Best Design.
Five merit awards will be give out for each category. The results of the competition will be announced before the end of the year, said Singapore 2010.
