Xinhua reports the Singapore government has allocated 15 million Singapore dollars to support youth sports development initiatives ahead of the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games.
The Singapore Youth Sports Development (SYSD) Committee made the announcement Monday and in a statement said it will be working with key stakeholders to develop youth sports to raise overall youth sports participation through strengthening the sports systems, catalyzing a sporting culture.
Teo Ser Luck, co-chairman of the SYSD said, “the additional boost is especially timely in view of the fact that Singapore will be hosting the Youth Olympic Games in 2010”.
