London 2012 Venue Updates

Plans for the London 2012 Olympic Mountain Bike venue have been approved. The plans for the 550-acre site course were developed in regard to the historical and environmental heritage of the area.

The course includes hill climbs which will reportedly provide a challenge to the world’s leading Mountain Bike riders.

Meanwhile the 12,000-seat Basketball Arena – which London 2012 says is one of the largest temporary venues ever built for the Olympic and Paralympic Games – has had its external cladding completed.

In the Olympic Park, the main structure is now in place for the 7,000-seat Handball Arena.

The Baseball Arena, which is longer than a football pitch at 114m, 98m wide and 35m tall, is moving towards completion by next spring.

The Handball Arena has a summer 2011 deadline.
