Ukraine announced earlier this year it was bidding for the 2022 Winter Olympic Games, and now BSANNA News reports the Cabinet of Ministers has set up an Organizing Committee said the Minister of Family, Youth and Sports Ravil Safiullin.
Safiullin said, “the work of the Organizing Committee will let develop and approve a plan for preparations and support of the application to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) at the highest organizational level”.
BSANNA reports Safiullin said this will ensure the comprehensive interaction of government agencies responsible for holding international sports events in the country with non-government organizations, citizens and subjects of the system of physical culture and sports in the preparation of necessary materials.
President Viktor Yanukovych has said that Ukraine will exert every effort to get the right to host the 2022 Winter Games in the Carpathians.
Ukraine’s bid was presented in Lviv last month. Preparations for Ukraine hosting the 2022 Olympics will reportedly cost about $12 billion with the bulk of the funds planned as investments, reports BSANNA.
