Guadalajara’s Mayor Aristotle Sandoval reportedly has considered the possibility of the city withdrawing its bid for the 2014 Youth Olympic Games because of the bid’s weakness against its competitors Poznan Poland and Nanjing China.
According to a report by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the evaluation commission believes that Nanjing’s bid presented minimal risk to the IOC but the bids from Guadalajara and Poznan present a number of risks.
Milenio in Mexico reported the Mayor made it clear that a decision will be made soon as to whether Guadalajara will withdraw its bid.
The host city for the 2014 Youth Olympic Games will be announced February 10 in Vancouver during the General Assembly of the IOC as part of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games.
