Guadalajara Officially Withdraws Bid For 2014 Youth Olympic Games

Guadalajara has officially withdrawn its bid for the second edition of the Youth Olympic Games to be held in 2014, a statement by the State government has revealed.

Instead, organizers will “give top priority to the organization of the XVI Pan American Games 2011.”

With only three weeks remaining in a campaign that has lasted more than a year, Guadalajara’s exit will leave only Nanjing, China and Poznan, Poland to compete for the Games. In an International Olympic Committee (IOC) report released earlier this month, Nanjing was given top marks but Guadalajara was said to have some significant risks – most surrounding the troubled efforts to organize the Pan American Games and the financial difficulties.
