All Three 2014 Youth Games Bids Accepted By IOC Executive Board

The Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) have now confirmed that the three candidate cities bidding to host the 2nd Youth Olympic Games in 2014 have been invited to present their bids to the full IOC membership at the IOC Session in Vancouver.

The three cities are Guadalajara Mexico, Nanjing China and Poznan Poland.

Poznan’s Mayor Ryszard Grobelny said upon hearing the decision, “this is a great day for Poznan. We are naturally thrilled that the IOC Executive Board has decided we should be given the opportunity to present our bid to all the IOC members in February. We think that the Youth Olympic Games is all about developing talent, something that Poland has always been committed to throughout its history.

“The Youth Olympic Games is our chance to extend this to the whole Olympic Movement and to the youth of the world. We look forward to sharing our vision for the Games with the full IOC membership in Vancouver”.

The vote to select the host city for the 2014 Youth Games takes place Wednesday, February 10.
