French President Nicolas Sarkozy will be in Annecy Friday to meet with the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) Evaluation Commission inspecting Annecy’s bid for the 2018 Winter Olympic Games.
The IOC commission, chaired by IOC member Gunilla Lindberg of Sweden, began meetings Wednesday with Annecy 2018 officials. Several topics were discussed including the bid’s legacy, the Olympic Games concept, the venues, the Olympic villages, accommodation, transportation and the environment.
The Associated Press reports the 11 members of the commission are not allowed to speak with the media during the inspection visit, and will only speak during Saturday’s closing press conference.
Thursday the group will begin its inspection with visits to the snowboard, freestyle, cross country and Nordic skiing venues in La Clusaz, Le Grand Bornand and Semnoz.
