The Maxi Banque Populaire V, the largest off-shore racing trimaran, carrying Annecy 2018’s bid logo on its mast, 47 metres high, set sail Saturday in the Jules Verne Trophy race in a record-breaking attempt for a non-stop and unsupported circumnavigation around the globe.
Pascal Bidegorry, skipper of the Maxi Banque Populaire V said, “I am very proud to be able to carry the hopes of Annecy 2018 around the world. Mariners and mountain lovers share many values, which are the foundation of my world. I hope that we can, in our own way, contribute to the realization of the wonderful event that the 2018 Winter Olympics in Annecy would be”.
