London 2012 torchbearers, volunteers, and staff at the Olympic Village will be wearing uniforms made from recycled materials.
London 2012 sponsor Adidas says items such as buttons will have high recycled content to make the Games sustainable.
A special shoe for the 70,000 volunteers will be made entirely from recycled materials and sustainable drinking bottles. According to Adidas it will be the first 100 per cent recycled drink bottles in the world.
Adidas chief executive Herbert Hainer said, “every product within the volunteer staff and the torch relay and within the village will have recycled material”.
Adidas says it hopes the recycled materials will have the same interest from collectors as the red mittens at the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games.
