In a press release Tuesday the Munich 2018 bid committee confirmed that any remaining opposition from landowners in Garmisch-Partenkirchen will not endanger Munich’s bid for the 2018 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games.
According to the press release, negotiations and talks are still in progress with the small percentage of landowners whose properties are impacted. The majority of landowners in Garmisch-Partenkirchen remain unaffected.
Munich 2018 says it will continue open dialogue with the remaining uncommitted landowners to secure the best possible financial arrangement for those concerned.
The bid committee says that “with efficient contingency plans in place and continued support from Bavarian State Minister Siegfried Schneider, Munich 2018 have all necessary agreements in place to ensure 100 per cent delivery of our plans to host a Festival of Friendship for the world in 2018”.
