The Korean Olympic Committee (KOC) voted Wednesday to support PyeongChang’s bid for the 2018 Winter Olympic Games. Earlier this month an internally composed KOC evaluation committee completed a comprehensive study, including the site inspection and the bid plan brief, said a press release.
Gangwon Province Governor Jin-sun Kim, head of PyeongChang 2018 said, “the Olympic and Paralaympic Winter Games in PyeongChang is a long-standing dream of Korea. We narrowly missed out two previous attempts, but we will do everything in our power for the honour of being the official 2018 host city. The compact competition venues including ski jumping and biathlon, are already in place. In addition, PyeongChang has kept its promise to the Olympic Movement by carrying out the Dream Program every year and hosting other winter sporting events. Needless to say, we will seek a close cooperation with the KOC as well as the government for the successful bid”.
