The responses will be studied by an IOC-appointed working group and a report will be made to the IOC Executive Board that will meet in June in Lausanne Switzerland to decide which cities will be accepted at Candidate Cities.
Munich’s bid includes a two-park, two-village concept for the Games that embodies its vision of “The Friendly Games”. With an Ice Park in Munich and a Snow Park in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Munich has concentrated 91 per cent of all events within the two Park-like environments. The plan requires the construction of only three new venues and the bid committee says it takes full advantage of Munich’s world-class transport infrastructure, driven by a “deep commitment” to sustainability through sport.
Annecy 2018 says its bid committee is already back to work on the bid book project. A delegation, headed by Annecy’s Mayor Jean-Luc Rigaut, and Denis Barbet, Paralympic Champion, is part of the Paralympic Games this week in Vancouver.
The bid committee says it is about to launch a “2018 business club” dedicated to economical support, during an official ceremony at the beginning of April, with hundreds of CEOs from the French regional and national economy, and famous champions that will testify to their support for Annecy’s bid.
To celebrate PyeongChang 2018’s submission of its Applicant City File to the IOC, there was a gathering of its most recently celebrated gold medallists from the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games.
PyeongChang lost Winter Olympic bids to Canada’s Vancouver and Russia’s Sochi for 2010 and 2014.
