According to AFP, a report released by the French Olympic Committee (CNOSF) Friday on France’s candidacy for the 2018 Winter Olympic Games says that Grenoble and Annecy have the potential to organize the 2018 Games while Pelvoux and Nice are too risky.
In the report the evaluation commission finds that both Annecy and Genoble can have “high quality” bids. The report says the advantages of a bid from Nice are undeniable especially “in its centre ice”. However, the committee considers that the bid is risky. It points to the distance and inadequate transportation between a proposed Olympic Village and the mountain resorts, and that there are not enough facilities for Nice to host the 2018 Games.
A decision as to France’s Candidate City for the 2018 Winter Games will be announced Wednesday.
