The Munich city council voted Wednesday in favour of an Olympic bid for the 2018 Winter Olympic Games, with the final decision to be made next week by Germany’s Olympic Committee, reports DPA. Only one delegate opposed the bid.
Munich Mayor Christian Ude said, “we took another step towards Olympic Winter Games with this impressive vote”.
The German Olympic Committee will decide on Munich’s bid on December 8.
Munich hosted the 1972 Summer Olympics and would be the first city to host both Games if it is successful in its 2018 Winter Games bid.
