For the second consecutive year Chicago 2016 is hosting amateur sport demonstrations featuring Olympians and Paralympians at the Taste Of Chicago food festival, June 27 to July 6.
The Taste of Chicago is the largest food festival in the world, said a Chicago 2016 press release. About six million visitors from all over the world attend the event being held in Chicago’s Grant Park. More than 70 restaurants participate each year, including numerous restaurants from the city’s various ethnic neighbourhoods.
Patrick Ryan, chairman and CEO of Chicago 2016 said, “the Taste of Chicago provides us with an opportunity to spread the Olympic Movement to all of the people who have traveled to Chicago for this historic festival. The millions of visitors at the Taste will be able to learn about amateur sport from the Olympic demonstrations, interact with Olympians and Paralympians, and be encouraged to be part of our city’s bid”.
Those visiting the event will be able to register their support for the bid at Chicago 2016 support counters located throughout the festival. According to the press release the three booths are solar powered, highlighting the bid’s commitment to sustainability and green initiatives.
