A high-level Tokyo 2016 delegation is in Bali for the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) General Assembly where it will make a presentation October 21.
The delegation includes Dr. Ichiro Kono, President of the Japanese Olympic Committee, Tsunekazu Takeda, International Olympic Committee (IOC) member, and IOC vice president Chiharu Igaya.
According to a press release the bid team is working with its Asian neighbours “to find collaborative ways to engender a sporting, social and environmental legacy for the benefit of millions of people in Japan and Asia, and within the Olympic Movement”.
Dr. Kono said of the visit, “the OCA General Assembly is not only a great opportunity for us to share our vision of a Games that unites our worlds. It is also a chance to thank the National Olympic Committees of Asia for their support and say how honoured Japan is to be part of the OCA”.
He added, “we believe strongly in Tokyo 2016’s potential, both to serve and inspire future generations in Japan, Asia and beyond. Our fellow Asian Olympic family members’ insight and support are vital to us bringing the world’s greatest event to the heart of vibrant Tokyo for the benefit of the Olympic Movement”.
