Tokyo 2016 is promoting its bid for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games by partnering with Kinki University. According to the agreement the university is to work towards improving understanding of the role of sport in society, explore the long-term benefits of hosting the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Tokyo, and maximize global awareness of Tokyo’s 2016 bid.
The collaboration will focus on the continuing development of Japan’s sports-related human resources and academic expertise, as well as the promotion of the Olympic Movement, said a press release. Formal research into the Olympic and Paralympic bidding processes will be conducted using Tokyo 2016’s experience combined with the academic expertise of the “prestigious institution”.
The press release said Kinki University has produced a number of outstanding athletes and Olympians including world-class swimmer Ryosuke Irie, who competed in the 2008 Summer Games in Beijing.

We share a strong belief that sport can advance society, and we look forward to helping the development of top athletes and sport-industry leaders for the benefit of Japan and the entire Olympic Movement”.
