Canada’s Supreme Court said Tuesday it will not hear an appeal by a group of female ski jumpers hoping to compete in the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games.
The women were hoping to overturn a lower court decision that allowed Vancouver 2010 organizer’s hold a men’s ski jumping competition but not a women’s event.
The women had argued that it violates Canada’s Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
The lower court ruled that the charter doesn’t apply to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) which decides what sports and events can participate in the Games.
The Supreme Court gave no reason for its decision.
