Tokyo Day In London Promotes 2016 Bid

Londoners were given an opportunity to learn about Tokyo and it’s bid for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games at an event organized by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and held at the Royal Horticultural Halls and Conference Centre in London.

The Tokyo 2016 booth was among the most popular attractions and, according to a Tokyo 2016 press release, visitors were particularly interested in the use of sustainable planning, refurbished existing venues and leading-edge environmental technology to create “the most compact and environmentally-friendly Olympic and Paralympic Games ever”.

Dr. Ichiro Kono, Chairman and CEO of Tokyo 2016 said, “Tokyo 2016 is thrilled to have had the opportunity to share our Olympic and Paralympic Games vision with the people of London who are themselves preparing for what we are sure will be a fantastic Olympic and Paralympic Games by 2012.

“A showcase of Olympic sustainability, the Tokyo 2016 vision is built around innovation, sustainability and a legacy from which Tokyo, the Olympic Movement and possibly even other great world cities such as London can view as a showcase for modern urban development”.

There’s another “Tokyo Day” in Rome Tuesday.
