Members of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) took a virtual tour of Madrid 2016 Thursday at an office set up in Lausanne by Madrid 2016 officials.
The tour included a view of various stadiums, thanks to the “magic mirror” – cutting edge technology created by the Madrid-based company Adnotan, reports a Spanish website.
IOC members saw a wall-to-wall mirror, which, at the touch of a button, turns into a touch-screen enabling the viewer to fly over the top of the sports facilities, look inside them and consult their technical specifications. Computer generated 3-D images of the facilities yet to be built are also included in the tour.
A viewer can also see the road and metro network planned for the 2016 Games. He or she can go to the part of the city of interest without having to scroll through endless pictures or sit through lengthy videos.
Phil Craven, president of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), was able to operate an identical, scaled down-down screen mounted on a mobile lectern from his wheelchair.
